Storage Forest Hill Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Storage Forest Hill in relation to the financial year ending 31 December and sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. Storage Forest Hill recognises that modern slavery is a severe violation of fundamental human rights and is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all business dealings.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Storage Forest Hill operates storage and associated services for individuals and businesses. Our supply chains include providers of construction, maintenance, cleaning, security, packaging materials, technology, utilities, and professional services. We recognise that risks relating to modern slavery can arise at multiple levels within these supply chains, particularly where services are labour intensive or sourced from higher risk sectors or regions.
Zero-Tolerance Policy
Storage Forest Hill has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, forced labour, child labour, and human trafficking. This principle applies to our own activities and to all third parties who supply goods or services to us. We expect all employees, agency workers, contractors, and suppliers to share this commitment and to act in accordance with our values, policies, and all applicable laws and regulations.
We are committed to conducting appropriate due diligence before entering into new business relationships and to refusing to work with any party that we know or reasonably suspect is involved in modern slavery practices. Where concerns arise, we will act promptly, up to and including termination of relationships where necessary and lawful.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We seek to work with suppliers who can demonstrate responsible labour practices and transparent employment conditions. Our standard supplier terms require compliance with all relevant employment, labour, and human rights legislation, including prohibitions on forced and child labour and human trafficking.
Storage Forest Hill is developing and implementing a risk-based programme of supplier assessments. Higher risk suppliers, such as those providing labour-intensive services or operating in sectors with known vulnerabilities, may be subject to additional due diligence. This may include requests for information on workforce practices, site visits or audits, and verification of policies on wages, working hours, and freedom of movement.
Where audits or assessments identify issues, we will work with the supplier to agree corrective actions and timescales. Failure to make satisfactory improvements may result in restrictions or termination of the business relationship, subject to contract terms and legal requirements.
Training and Awareness
We are committed to building awareness among our employees about the risks and signs of modern slavery. Relevant teams, including procurement, facilities, and site management, are provided with information to help them identify potential indicators of exploitation and understand how to escalate concerns.
We aim to foster a culture where ethical concerns can be raised without fear of retaliation. Employees are reminded that preventing modern slavery is a shared responsibility and a core element of how we conduct business.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Storage Forest Hill encourages anyone connected with our business, including employees, agency workers, contractors, and suppliers, to report any concerns related to modern slavery or human trafficking. Concerns may include suspected exploitation of workers, unreasonable recruitment fees, retention of identity documents, restricted freedom of movement, or unsafe or degrading working conditions.
Reports can be made to line managers or senior management. We will investigate concerns raised in good faith and take appropriate action. We will not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against any person who raises a concern honestly, even if it is not substantiated after investigation.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
Storage Forest Hill recognises that addressing modern slavery is an ongoing process requiring continuous improvement. We are committed to reviewing and, where necessary, enhancing our policies, due diligence procedures, and training to strengthen our controls and responsiveness.
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed at least annually by senior management to assess its effectiveness and to reflect changes in our business, legal requirements, and best practice. Updates will be approved at an appropriate level of seniority and communicated within the business and to relevant stakeholders.
By setting clear expectations, monitoring compliance, and promoting responsible practices, Storage Forest Hill aims to reduce the risk of modern slavery in our operations and supply chains and to contribute positively to the protection of human rights.
